Top 5 doggy films to watch

Cuddling up on the sofa with our dogs is something we do daily, but over the next few weeks we'll start to watch even more TV. At YuMOVE, we love dogs a lot, so if you're looking for something different here's our 5 best doggy films to watch this Spring!

Marley and Me (2008)

Yellow Labrador Puppy playing in the garden

This film follows the lives of John and Jenny Grogan who, shortly after moving to Florida from Michigan, adopt a yellow Labrador pup Marley. You watch Marley grow up and despite being a mischievous pooch he always manages to bring our the best in the Grogan's family.

“A person can learn a lot from a dog, even a loopy one like ours. Marley taught me about living each day with unbridled exuberance and joy, about seizing the moment and following your heart. He taught me to appreciate the simple things-a walk in the woods, a fresh snowfall, a nap in a shaft of winter sunlight. And as he grew old and achy, he taught me about optimism in the face of adversity. Mostly, he taught me about friendship and selflessness and, above all else, unwavering loyalty.”
― John Grogan

 101 Dalmatians (1996)
Dalmatian puppies

We are going to assume nearly everyone has watched this film! It's based on Dodie Smith's 1956 novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians. If you want to watch 101 spotted puppies causing chaos against the evil fashion designer Cruella de Vil then this one is for you.

“The humans have tried everything. Now it's up to us dogs.”

“Someone asked me how long I planned on keeping you in my life... I smiled and said: How do I choose between forever and always?”

Lady and the Tramp (1955)

This animated musical romance film follows the lives of two dogs, Lady and Tramp. Lady is adjusting to life with a new addition to the family, a baby. With the help of two local neighbourhood dogs Jock and Trusty, the film is all about their adventures and finding their furever home. There's now a 2019 remake out, so we recommend watching the original first!

The Secret Life of Pets (2016)

This animated comedy film is all about the adventures of Max, a spoilt Jack Russell Terrier, and his other four-pawed pals who live in the same apartment building. We love this film as it's an insight into what our pets could get up to when we're normally at work in the office! The sequel, The Secret Life of Pets 2, was released last year so if you love this film you can watch that too.

Lassie Come Home (1943)
A rough collie outside

This film is a classic and we love it! The film follows Yorkshire boy Joe and his canine best friend, Lassie. Lassie is a rough collie who, due to hard times, is separated from Joe. Despite being hundred of miles away, she sets out on an adventure to be reunited with the boy she loves.

“He raced on down High Street, and now Lassie seemed to catch his enthusiasm. She ran beside him, leaping high in the air, barking that sharp cry of happiness that dogs often can achieve. Her mouth was stretched wide, as collies so frequently do in their glad moments, and in a way that makes collie owners swear that their dogs laugh when pleased.”
