Meet Stephan Burow, YuMOVE’s new Managing Director

We’re pleased to announce the appointment of Stephan Burow as Managing Director of Vetnique UK | Home of YuMOVE.

Stephan joined YuMOVE in January 2023 as Chief Financial Officer, having previously worked at Unilever, dunnhumby and Gousto.

Here, he tells us about life at YuMOVE, his gorgeous dog Lupa, and how he plans to help even more cats and dogs thrive with our scientifically backed supplements.

What attracted you to YuMOVE?  

As soon as I joined YuMOVE, I immediately felt at home. I was attracted to the unique combination of a great company culture, a thriving business, and a mission I felt passionate about – benefiting the lives of as many pets as possible.

What does your new role as Managing Director entail? 

There are many facets to my new role, but at its heart, it's really about the same three things that attracted me – furthering our positive impact for pets, continuing to enable a great culture, and growing the business. We’re in a fortunate position of selling a product that works, and ultimately, the bigger the business, the more pets we're helping.

What’s the best thing about working at YuMOVE?  

The best thing is being surrounded by people who care deeply about our purpose. Doing what's right for pets is always top of mind. Everyone is so friendly and supportive, and not all workplaces are like that. And, obviously, having my pooch running around the office is a wonderful perk as well.

What motivates you?

One thing that really motivates me is hearing from our customers. So, although it’s easy for me to say, ‘try our products, they really work,’ our customers validate this through their reviews and loyalty every day.

What advice would you give to pet owners considering supplements for their pets?

Firstly, I’d say supplements are an additive to health, they’re not there to replace something. They’re there to build, support and help your pet thrive.

Secondly, I’d emphasise that supplements are not just for older cats and dogs. They’re for pets of all ages, supporting their health and happiness with proactive care, rather than waiting for a problem.

Tell us about Lupa and which YuMOVE supplements she takes.

Lupa is my 6-year-old Jack Russell Terrier and is 16lbs of feistiness! She loves three things in life – sleeping, eating and playing ball. When she's in the office, her single pursuit is to see how many colleagues she can get to throw the ball for her.

What do you do when you’re not working?  

I like being outside. Reconnecting with nature is important, as I spend a lot of time glued to my desk. I have a four-year-old daughter, Florence, who’s a bundle of energy, so I love being outside with her and going on family adventures. I also enjoy the occasional game of tennis, a weekly swim or a run once in a while.

What are your plans for the future of YuMOVE?  

I’m here to preserve the incredible business that’s been handed into my stewardship. So, it's about how we continue ‘great.’ A great place to work. Great products that make a real difference to pets' lives. And continuing the great work we’ve started in Europe, so we can continue to have a positive impact on more and more pets’ lives.
