How to make dog ice cream
When the sun's out, many dogs are more than happy to find a shady spot and take it easy. But if you'd like to help your furry pal cool down, a homemade frozen treat can go down a storm.
While you shouldn't share your own ice cream with your canine companion, there are plenty of dog-friendly frozen treats you can make at home using simple ingredients.
From fruity pup-sicles to savoury frozen treats, here are a few easy recipes to try this summer.
How to make dog ice cream
Making dog ice cream at home is simple. All you'll need is a blender, some moulds or an ice cube tray, and a few dog-friendly ingredients.
Instructions
- Put your ingredients in a blender and mix until combined.
- Spoon the mixture into moulds or an ice cube tray.
- Freeze for 30 minutes, then push a longer dog biscuit halfway into each mould to create a handle.
- Return to the freezer until completely frozen.
- Serve once solid. We suggest enjoying these treats outdoors to help keep the mess to a minimum.
- Store any extras in a freezer-safe container or bag.

A cool treat for warm days
A homemade frozen treat can be a lovely way to help your dog cool down when the weather warms up. Just remember that treats should only make up a small part of a healthy, balanced diet, and always supervise your dog when they're enjoying frozen snacks.
And don't forget, if you have concerns about your dog's digestion, please talk to your vet.
